World Bonsai Day


Bishopsford will be hosting World Bonsai Day which promises to be an interesting, inspiring, fun-filled day involving the members of the Cape Regional Association of Bonsai (CRAB). The Western Cape clubs are bringing their “best” or most inspiring” presentation seen at their meetings over the past year, a Bonsai competition will take place, auction of a private collection of mame pots, vendors tables & lucky draws/prizes.

The competition will be divided into the following categories and we ask that each club enter at least one tree (maximum 2) per category, deadline for entries 5 May 2018:
- Under 5 years Bonsai experience
- 5 to 10 years Bonsai experience
- Over 10 years Bonsai experience
- Seasonal display (flowering/winter silhouette/best of the season)
- Out of the box/Innovative Bonsai
The best competition trees will be voted for by the delegates attending.
Certificates and a small prize will be awarded.

Schedule 
9.00am Registration & competition tree setup
9.30am Bonsai evaluation – Lionel Theron – ¾ hour
10.15am Baobabs – Frikkie - Blaauwberg – ½ hour 
10.45am Tea
11.15am SA Heritage Collection – Willem Pretorius - Boland
11.45am Bonsai for me – Neil Van Blerk - Oyama– ¾ hour
12.30pm Lunch
1.30pm Bonsai Europa report back - Carl Morrow – CBK
2pm Auction of Mame pots collected over 45 years
2.30pm Tea 
3pm Buddleja Saligna – Freddie Bischoff - Tygerberg
3.30pm Competition results & close – ½ hour

Registration
Registration is essential by email to capecrab@gmail.com to facilitate catering and seating arrangements, deadline 5 May 2018. R50 registration fee payable on registration and receipt of the EFT will confirm your seat. 
Bank details will be sent with confirmation that space is available. 
Numbers are limited and we are filling up fast. 

Refreshments:
Refreshments are included in your registration fee mid-morning and afternoon tea/coffee and at lunchtime Boerewors rolls will be available.
